Pharmacy Profession Awareness Campaigns (PPAC)
Pharmacy Profession Awareness Campaigns (PPAC) are annual campaigns performed under the Vice-President's office, aimed at raising awareness on the pharmacy profession by inspiring future pharmacists — especially first-year pharmacy students as well as secondary students — through sharing information about the pharmacy profession including cut-off marks, criteria regarding eligibility, scope of the profession, available opportunities in pharmacy over other professions which make it a noble career, assisting and motivating them for making informed decisions about their future. These campaigns are performed physically on selected secondary schools, where we meet with students and have knowledge-exchange interactive sessions in which we try to depict a clear image of the pharmacy profession in Rwanda. Students are allowed to ask questions for gaining clarity on any apprehension regarding a pharmacy career. These motivate students to study hard, especially those who are doing or wish to do science combinations — namely MCB, PCB, and BCG — and are willing to pursue their university studies in the College of Medicine and Health Sciences (CMHS), especially the Department of Pharmacy. Participants also become messengers to their fellow students whom we can't manage to meet with.
Why It Matters
Many secondary school students lack clear information about the pharmacy profession, its scope, and the opportunities it offers. By visiting schools and engaging directly with students, PPAC ensures that the next generation makes informed career decisions, understands the eligibility criteria and science combinations (MCB, PCB, BCG) needed, and sees pharmacy as the noble and rewarding career it truly is.
“After RPSA visited our school, I finally understood what pharmacists really do and the opportunities available. It completely changed my career choice — I'm now a proud pharmacy student at CMHS!”
